Things To Do In Summer At Our Parks

04 Jul 2023

With summer days and warmer nights on the way, you might be wondering what there is to do, see and experience in and around our five-star country parks. With each location offering something unique, let’s take a look at all the things you can enjoy this summer.

Each and every one of our beautiful country parks boasts a sought-after location with relaxation and tranquillity as the primary attraction. However, there are many things to get up to, particularly during summer, at our parks that might interest you.

Ord House

Our Berwick upon Tweed caravan park is home to many wonderful things to enjoy in summer.

Beautifully maintained year-round, discover eye-catching plants and flowers as well as freshly-cut lawns, trees and greenery, and a range of wildlife habitats interspersed throughout the park.

Ord House boasts a cosy on-site pub, Ord House Lounge Bar & Grill, which offers tasty pub meals and a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Outdoor seating is also available if you wish to eat and drink outside with your pooch!

The outdoor children’s playground is a social hub for the kids to meet new friends and burn off energy, while adults can enjoy some peace and relaxation undisturbed.

The Kaims

Flaunting a mesmerising location with Bamburgh just on the doorstep, The Kaims is the perfect place to own a holiday home in summer.

As well as the sprawling Northumberland countryside moments away, The Kaims features an on-site clubhouse if you fancy an ice-cold pint of beer when the sun comes out. Meet like-minded people and chat to your heart’s content in this beautiful setting.

The Kaims offers a kids play area, if you are travelling with little ones, to keep them amused during the day.

Surrounding the park, there is also plenty to do and see. Just a short drive from Bamburgh, you can experience the historic Bamburgh Castle or head to the beach with the dog to play fetch or enjoy a wind-swept picnic with the family.

Forget Me Not

The Longhorsley caravan park in our five-star collection showcases breathtaking scenery and is the perfect getaway in the heart of Northumberland.

Similarly to Ord House, visitors to the park and holiday home owners can order delicious meals and snacks from the on-site pub, Prince William Bar & Grill. Branded beers, ales, ciders, wine, spirits and soft drinks are also served to quench your thirst when the temperature rises.

This stunning park also offers a children’s playground and dogs are welcome on-site too, just not inside the pub unfortunately but ample outdoor seating is available.

Newbus Grange

Nestled between the pretty villages of Neasham and Hurworth and only a stone’s throw from the market town of Darlington, Newbus Grange has plenty to offer for summer holiday home owners.

There is a chance to cool off in the outdoor heated swimming pool or lounge by the water if you would prefer to relax with a drink in the sunshine.

Newbus Grange is located on the banks of the River Tees with fishing rights available. Therefore, why not spend the day by the river practising your catch? We also have a kid’s play on-site to give the little ones something to do when the weather is at its best.

Hurworth Springs

A fully residential park in the parish of Hurworth, Hurworth Springs offers a peaceful gated community and excellent transport links if you wish to access a range of exciting things to do during summer months.

The beautifully manicured grounds of South Park are perfect if you fancy a picnic, or Broken Scar’s wooded landscape is ideal for walking the dog in the good weather.

Low Carrs

Another fully residential park in our collection, Low Carrs offers country style living but with all the benefits of Durham City right on the doorstep.

Low Carrs is well serviced by a number of facilities in the surrounding area. Durham City boasts an array of bars and restaurants as well as shops and farmers markets selling a range of handmade goods and produce.

Durham Cathedral is also a must-visit when in the area and offers the chance for you to uncover the extensive historical background.

Swainby

In the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors, it goes without saying that Swainby Country Parks offers plentiful opportunities for things to do in summer.

Although set in a rural location, Swainby is a walker’s paradise, so be sure to pack your walking boots!  We recommend packing a picnic and climbing up Roseberry Topping or taking a stroll along The Cleveland Way.

Plus, the dramatic beauty of The North York Moors National Park is home to rare species of plants, birds and mammals. There are plenty of spectacular photo opportunities and chances to clear your head as you explore this natural paradise.

Swaleside

Holding a charming location on the banks of the River Sale, Swaleside Country Park offers fishing rights to all holiday home owners on the river in which the park is set.

The park is also a perfect base to enjoy miles of scenic walks with your other half, or why not bring the dog along? The abundance of stunning countryside offers many opportunities for fun on summer days; why not pack a picnic and relax for a bite to eat in the countryside?
