At Maguires Country Parks, we’re all about making memories and having holidays to remember. If you’re thinking about getting away this October half-term, why not consider a touring pitch or holiday home ownership at one of our five-star country parks?

We have eight beautiful country parks across County Durham, North Yorkshire and Northumberland awaiting your arrival. Whether you own a caravan, want to set up camp, or are looking at the prospect of owning your own luxury holiday home, the choice is yours.

When planning your October half-term agenda, there is plenty you can get to across County Durham, North Yorkshire and Northumberland. Let’s take a look!

Pick your own pumpkins

That’s right; the scary season is on its way! Besides that, pumpkins are symbolic of the autumn season and picking your own is great fun for all the family. From tiny pumpkins to extra large and from white and green to orange, there is a pumpkin to suit every personality.

Get your wellies on, wrap up warm and set off on a pumpkin picking adventure at various locations close to your Maguires Country Park.

Book tickets to explore the selection of pumpkins at Spilman’s in Thirsk, or if you’re in the County Durham area, pop by East Grange Pumpkin Patch to enjoy plenty of fun. Why not pick yourself up a toffee apple or a creamy hot chocolate on the way out?

Alternatively, if you are holidaying in Northumberland, take some time out of your day to visit Brocksbushes to pick up some pumpkins. Then it’s time to decide what spooky features you’re going to carve!

Go on a Halloween trail

Halloween only comes around once a year, so why not have a scarily good time celebrating it?

Should you be residing in County Durham for the October half-term break, book tickets for the Raby Castle Halloween Trail or High Force Halloween Trail. An ideal activity for everyone, see if you can spot the spooktacular clues along the way!

Attend a spooky event

This year at Whitehouse Farm near Morpeth, there are many frighteningly good Halloween-themed activities to enjoy.

Take your pick of the Ghostly Grim Grotto, Monster Mash Dance Off, Fancy Dress Competition or Magic Steve is back with a Brand New Magic Show.

Visit The York Dungeon

A truly unmissable attraction in York’s city centre, the York Dungeon is a must-visit during the October half-term.

Pre-booking tickets is essential to enjoy the theatrical actors, special effects, stages and scenes of the famous York Dungeon. Discover 2,000 years of York’s dark history and meet famous characters from the past, including Vikings, Isabella Billington and Guy Fawkes.

Activities you can enjoy at your Maguires Country Park

Besides all that, there are actually plenty of autumn-themed activities to enjoy with a day spent at the park.

Go for a brisk autumn walk to collect leaves and conkers, read a book, have a cosy film afternoon, or perhaps try your hand at some autumnal baking.

Book your touring spot or purchase a holiday or residential home with Maguires Country Parks. Contact our friendly and knowledgeable team, who will be happy to help you plan your next getaway.
