Our Top 3 Places To Visit In Northumberland

13 Aug 2020

At Maguires Country Parks, we know life can’t get much better than relaxing on the decking of your holiday home, with a glass of wine and a good book. Time really does fly when you’re on holiday, so sometimes it’s like the day’s over before it’s even begun, right?!

Even so, we all love a day trip every once in a while. And luckily for you, some of our parks are right next to some top-notch tourist attractions. Keep on reading to find out about our favourite spots…

Bamburgh Castle

If you’re at The Kaims, this beautiful castle is right on your doorstep! Bamburgh Castle has stood guard over the extraordinary Northumberland coastline for nearly 1,400 years. Spreading out over 9 acres of land, Bamburgh is one of the largest inhabited castles in the country. Woah

With a fascinating history you’ll love every moment of your visit – and as Bamburgh castle has received VisitEngland’s ‘We’re Good To Go Standard’ you’ll have peace of mind too! Find tickets for Bamburgh Castle from just £11.

Northumberland Country Zoo

Here Maguires, we’re firm believers that you are never too old for a day at the zoo. Whether wild cats or reptiles are more your thing, the Northumberland Country Zoo has the whole menagerie!

This family-run zoo currently has 17 acres of land and over 50 different species of animals. With adult tickets for under a tenner, it would be silly to not pay this place a visit! If you’re at Forget Me Not, this attraction is especially close to you!

Alnwick Gardens

Now, this is one of our personal favourites, and, if you’re at Swainby, this is next door to you! With 12 acres of land, The Alnwick Garden is a multi-award winning visitor attraction.

The garden is home to the world’s largest Tai Haku Cherry Orchard as well as the world’s largest Treehouse Restaurant, so you can spend the day wandering in-between the roses and then head for a spot of dinner at a magnificent restaurant: in a tree-house. Sounds like a fairy-tale, doesn’t it?
To top it all off, all surplus earned by Alnwick Gardens is reinvested into improving its gardens and other charity programmes!

Find out all you need to know about booking your visit to Alnwick Gardens here.

We hope you enjoyed reading about some of our favourite spots as much as you will visiting them. Our parks are the perfect base to visit these attractions from, so if you would like to know more about them – get in touch
