With so many exciting attractions and popular activities nearby, you will be spoilt for choice what to check out first. However, sometimes the UK weather can be unpredictable and ever changing, which can throw a spanner in the works when it comes to making plans.
But don’t let the weather spoil your fun because there are plenty of exciting rainy activities to enjoy when the weather is letting you down.

Whether you are touring at either of our Northumberland-based country parks, or have a holiday home or residential lodge; there is plenty to look forward to when the sunshine is hiding away for the day.
Just over a 30-minute drive from Forget Me Not Country Park in Longhorsley, discover Newcastle’s Life Science Centre. A fascinating day out for the whole family, it has something for all ages to enjoy.
You will be able to enjoy a host of exciting activities including a science theatre, planetarium, various activity zones and a thrilling 4D motion ride. Times Square Cafe is the perfect place to warm up as you tuck into a tasty lunch and a hot drink.
A great way to spend a rainy day in Yorkshire, the National Railway Museum is bursting with 300 years of captivating history and is one of York’s most popular attractions. Those of all ages with curious minds will love the daily demonstrations and chance to marvel at the engineering work in progress.
Watch locomotives moving on the turntable and relive days gone by with a steam or diesel ride behind one of the engines. There is also a play area for the littles ones to let off some steam as they learn how to control the signals and build their own model trains.

An all-weather fun attraction, Whitehouse Farm is Northumberland’s largest family-run farm located south of Morpeth and just a mile off the A1.
A great place for families, Whitehouse Farm features soft play for the kids as well as outdoor play areas, tractor-trailer rides, lots of animals to feed and hold and a relaxing restaurant so you can keep out of the rain!
Enjoy handling and stroking traditional animal breeds to more unusual and exotic species. There really is something for everyone at Whitehouse Farm, no matter the weather!
If you would prefer a day out filled with fascinating artefacts and interesting exhibits, enjoy an afternoon at The Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle.
Set amongst the beautiful Durham countryside, the museum mainly houses many internationally significant collections of fine and decorative arts.
Cafe Bowes is a relaxing opportunity to pause for a slice of cake and a cappuccino, afternoon, or even a three-course meal if you are feeling extra hungry. There is sure to be something to delight your taste buds!
Young motorists will love a day at York Motorsports Village. The exciting indoor race-themed go-karting centre offers a wide range of racing packages to suit all ages.
If you would prefer to sit this one out, spectators are warmly welcome to watch the action from the comfortable coffee and wine bar. Monitor the race progression across four screens to ensure you don’t miss a single thing!
