With summer just around the corner, we know you’re all looking forward to spending time at your Maguires holiday home. To help you all prepare for this exciting summer, we’ve pulled together a few tips to help you make the most of the season!
So, grab your sun cream and flip-flops and let’s jump right in ⛱️
Summer swims
Would it really be a summer holiday at Newbus Grange without spending time by the heated pool?! This is the perfect place to enjoy a warm summer’s day, lounging around with an ice cream in hand, then going for a dip to cool down. We also know how much the kids love the pool, so grab the sun cream, beach towels and swimming goggles and get ready for the perfect summer’s day. To make this experience even better, the pool is currently being refurbished to open later this summer, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled for it reopening ?
Not at Newbus Grange but still fancy a paddle? Why not head to some of the amazing beaches we have near our parks. Ord House is located close to Spittal Beach and Cocklawburn Beach, both perfect for taking a dip and sunbathing. You might even get lucky and see dolphins, seals, porpoise and maybe even a basking shark! A trip not to be missed in our opinion.
Or if you’re at The Kaims, take the short trip to Bamburgh Castle Beach, one of the best beaches in the British Isles. Here you can try surfing with some of the best waves in the country. Surf lessons and surf rent is also available here, so there’s no reason not to give it a go ?♀️
These aren’t the only parks close to the beach. You can find all the best beaches located nearby your park through using the beach guide. We promise that whichever Maguires park you are at, there is a beach you will love.
Day trips
Another must while on your summer holiday at Maguires, is a day trip. Luckily for you, our parks are surrounded by a variety of beautiful spots across North Yorkshire, County Durham and Northumberland. One of our favourites in North Yorkshire is located right next to Swaleside: Sutton Bank. Here you can enjoy long walks with spectacular views or rent a bike to explore the cycling tracks.
Wine and dine
What even is a holiday without trying some new fantastic food, or going for some old favourites? If you’re at Ord House or Forget Me Not, make sure you make the most of the restaurants we have on site. Whether it’s for a quick bite with the kids or a drink (or two) with friends – paying them a visit on a hot summer’s day is a must.
Did you know that we also sell slushies at Forget Me Not and Ord House? Top tip: ask the team to add some gin for the most refreshing and fun summer’s drink!
Sizzling sausages
Although not all our parks have a restaurant, why not make the most of your decking by having a BBQ? What is summer without a BBQ with family and friends, after all? If you’re struggling for ideas, check out this amazing BBQ list from Delish, featuring classics like steak and chicken but also fruit, veggies and desserts. Remember to save us a seat at the table!
