Celebrating Yorkshire Day with Swainby Country Park

27 Jul 2020

Today is Yorkshire Day and to celebrate we wanted to put the spotlight on Swainby Country Park, our wonderful Yorkshire park, based in the North York Moors.

Why choose Swainby Country Park?

Swainby Country Park is a tranquil park in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors. If you’re looking for a country retreat to escape to, this is the park for you! Open all year round, you can get away whenever you like. What’s better than that?!

The park is also surrounded by traditional Yorkshire dry stone walls and sweeping heather moorland, crossed by some of England’s finest long distance footpaths, ideal for ramblers, riders and cyclists. Sounds like something straight from a novel!

Like all of our country parks, we’re proud to be recognised as 5* which means you can expect the very best of the best service from our team too.

Features of Swainby Country Park

As you may have guessed, the real selling point of Swainby Country Park is the rural location. It’s a real nature-lover’s paradise with some of the country’s most beautiful scenery on its doorstep.

Like all of our parks, Swainby is dog friendly so you don’t have to worry about leaving your furry friend behind! And with amazing locations to go on long walks together, it’s the perfect place to take them away too.

As an owners only park, we don’t allow subletting. That means you can get used to friendly faces and make friends with neighbouring like-minded people.

Things to do around Swainby

When you’ve had enough of relaxing, listening to birds singing and the blissful peace and quiet at the park, you can venture out around the North York Moors. Home to rare species of plants, birds and mammals, it’s not unusual to spot a short-eared owl or skylark when you’re out and about!

We’d definitely recommend packing up a picnic and climbing up Roseberry Topping if you’re up for the walk. Fun fact, even though Roseberry Topping is traditionally considered the highest peak (at 1,049 feet) in the North York Moors, there are actually 15 higher peaks with the nearby Urra Moor being the highest at 1,490 feet! If you’re more of a thrill seeker, Lightwater Valley is just a short drive away from the park. With over 30 rides and rollercoasters, it’s a fun family day out. We’ll race you to the rapids!

When it comes to a classic and cosy country pub, there are plenty around Swainby to visit and enjoy a pint (or two). We recommend checking out the Blacksmith Arms and the Black Horse for some tasty food and refreshing drinks with the family.
