Which Maguires Country Park Is Right for Me?

12 Jun 2020

Maguires Country Parks was founded in 1981 when our family purchased the first country park at Low Carrs, County Durham and we have been growing ever since! We now boast seven country parks in our ever-expanding portfolio.

With so many to choose from, we’ve written a little bit about each of our five-star country parks to help you decide which is right for you and your holiday home.

If you’re looking for more information on our residential country parks, you can see more here.

Ord House Country Park

Based in Berwick Upon Tweed, Ord House Country Park is our flagship park and really does have it all on offer. From glamping pods, to touring and holiday homes (as well as residential too!) there is something for everyone.

Ord House is perfect for families looking for a getaway; with a children’s playground and activity area sure to keep the little ones entertained. On top of this, we also have the Ord House Lounge Bar & Grill, serving up delicious meals and a whole range of drinks so you can enjoy yourself while you’re away.

Once you venture outside the country park, Berwick Upon Tweed has so much to explore. Steeped in history, you can enjoy views of the town from the UK’s only bastioned town walls. If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, why not take a boat trip on the River Tweed and go dolphin spotting or see the fluffy white seal pups on the Farne Islands.

Newbus Grange

Newbus Grange Country Park stands in 12 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds alongside the River Tees, on the border of North Yorkshire and County Durham. Close to Darlington, there are a whole host of activities available at your fingertips.

For those who love the outdoors, Newbus Grange owns the fishing rights for the stretch of the River Tees adjacent to the park as well as a woodland dog walk to enjoy with your furry friend. But, if you prefer relaxing and sunbathing on a warm summer’s day, don’t worry! Newbus Grange Country Park has its very own outdoor heated swimming pool – the perfect addition to your holiday.

Newbus Grange Country Park has the best of both worlds. In addition to a peaceful getaway, it has excellent train links and the busy and vibrant town of Darlington is just a stone’s throw away.

The Kaims

Located close to Bamburgh Castle, The Kaims Country Park is the perfect base to explore Northumberland. And with the A1 close by, travel to and from the country park an absolute doddle. The park is also surrounded by fields of sheep, which we think are the cutest neighbours you can have.

The Kaims has something for everyone. If you enjoy a stroll along the shores of the World Heritage Coastline, this park is perfect for you. Likewise, if you prefer a more active retreat, The Kaims is the ideal spot for your holiday home with first class golf courses and cycling routes nearby.

Forget Me Not

Set in the beautiful Northumberland countryside, Forget Me Not Country Park is an idyllic location. With spectacular views of the Simonside and Cheviot Hills, Forget Me Not Country Park is a walker’s paradise.

Like all of our country parks, Forget Me Not is open all year round so you can take a break whenever you fancy it. Also, as our park is home to the Prince William Bar & Grill, you don’t have to go far to be served delicious, home cooked food. With a large-screen for sports and an adults only bar, it’s perfect for watching the big games while the little ones make the most of the indoor and outdoor play area.

And if you’re a Harry Potter fan, visiting Alnwick Castle is a must – the renowned location of where the wizard went to school and learnt to fly his Nimbus 2000.

Swainby

Situated in the picturesque North Yorkshire Moors National Park, Swainby Country Park is perfect for those looking to be surrounded by nature. We don’t allow sub-letting, tents or tourers at Swainby, so the only thing to disturb your peace and quiet are the birds singing!

We believe that Swainby is the ultimate country retreat. Just picture a glass of wine, a good book and a tranquil setting – that’s exactly what we want to offer.

With some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK right on your doorstep, the secluded Swainby Country Park is the perfect place to recharge your batteries and enjoy the sites of North Yorkshire. The park is surrounded by traditional Yorkshire dry stone walls and sweeping heather moorland, crossed by some of England’s finest long distance footpaths, ideal for ramblers, riders and cyclists.
